What are braces?

How do you floss with braces?

How to floss with braces depends on the type of braces you choose. Since you can remove invisible braces, you can floss normally. 

If you have metal or clear braces, you’ll need a floss threader to thread orthodontic floss between the wires. Once you thread the floss, hold each end with your pointer fingers and move the floss back and forth.

How do you brush with braces?

If you have metal or clear braces, you must adjust your brush carefully to ensure you brush thoroughly. Start with your brush at a 45° angle from the upper gum line or a 135° angle from the lower gum line. Brush along the gum line. Next, adjust the angle so you can brush along the top of each bracket. Continue adjusting the angle so you can brush along the bottom and surface of the brackets, and brush each tooth. 

Brushing is less complicated if you have invisible braces because you can take your braces out and brush your teeth. You should also brush your invisible braces with a toothbrush daily and rinse your braces out.

Are braces painful?

Braces can be uncomfortable when you start wearing them. It’s normal to experience some discomfort after your fitting.
