Who Benefits From Our Kids Tooth Extraction Services?
Anyone, including children, who may need a tooth extraction can benefit from our services.
Tooth extractions may be needed due to a variety of reasons:
An Injury
Severe injuries, or trauma, to both adult and baby teeth may require extraction. We will take every available measure to save natural teeth, including options such as crowns, but when these are not possible, extraction may be the best course of action.
Injuries may not always be avoided, but requiring your children to wear mouthguards during sports is a great way to prevent many injuries. We offer custom mouth guards for children and adults.
Gum Disease
While gum disease (also called periodontal disease) requiring extraction is more common in adults than in children, children are still occasionally susceptible. Warning signs of gum disease can include bleeding gums, painful or discolored gums, bad breath that doesn’t improve with brushing, pus around gums, and loose permanent teeth.
If your child is experiencing any of these issues, come in for an evaluation right away. Early-stage gum disease can be treated and potentially reversed. Late-stage gum disease may only be managed.
Tooth Decay
In some cases, when tooth decay becomes severe, teeth may need to be removed. Tooth decay most often happens alongside poor oral health practices, and can often be avoided with consistent brushing, flossing, and fluoride treatments.
If your water is not fluoridated (this is often the case if your home uses a well for drinking water), you should consider regular fluoride treatments for your family. Fluoride has been proven to prevent cavities and severe tooth decay.
In every case, we will only extract a tooth if it protects long-term oral health.
