Types of Dental Implants in Las Vegas
Missing teeth is as much an oral health issue as they are an aesthetic one.
When you have missing teeth, your other teeth can shift, you can lose jawbone, and the shape of your face can change. In addition, missing teeth affects your confidence, makes it more difficult to eat and talk, and impacts your overall quality of life.
While there are many ways to stop these oral health issues from affecting your mouth, face, and quality of life, the gold-standard for care is dental implants. Dental implants are a permanent solution to all of these problems, are the easiest to care for, and many people forget they’re even there.
At Absolute Dental, we strive to ensure our patients receive the best care in all of Nevada. Whether you need a full set of implants or just one, we are proud to be able to help you protect your oral health and your confident smile.
Dental implants are a permanent tooth-loss solution. In general, they consist of a post or armature implanted into one of the bones in the face, which holds a dental crown in place. This dental crown looks and acts just like your natural tooth, and at a glance, most people can’t even tell the difference.
Most often, a dental implant consists of three parts:
Post:Â This is a small, screw-like device that is surgically implanted into one of the bones in the face, most often the jawbone.
Abutment:Â The abutment is a connector piece that attaches the post to the crown, or replacement tooth.
Crown: This is the part that looks like your natural tooth. It’s connected to the post implanted into your bone with the abutment.
When receiving a dental implant, there is some healing time involved. After your initial assessment, the first thing the dentist will do is implant the post or posts in your jaw during surgery. After this, you must take time to heal so the implant can fuse with your body’s natural tissues.

Endosteal implants are the most common implants. These consist of a titanium or zirconia post screwed directly into the jawbone, then allowed to heal and fuse before receiving the abutment and crown.
These are the most widely used implants and can be used in a wide variety of situations as long as sufficient bone density is present in the jaw.
Zygomatic Implants
Zygomatic implants are similar to endosteal implants, but they use a longer screw and post to allow the dentist to screw the implant into the cheekbone. Dentists typically use this method when there isn’t sufficient jawbone left to screw endosteal posts into.
These implants are usually used when repairing a full arch, rather than one specific tooth.
Subperiosteal Implants
Subperiosteal implants are less common, especially in current dental practice, but still occasionally used. These implants are placed on top of the jawbone but under the gumline and supported by a metal framework.
These may be a good option for people who do not have sufficient bone density for endosteal implants but are not good candidates for zygomatic implants.
No matter what type of dental implants you may need, Absolute Dental has you covered. Our excellent dentists and periodontists can handle any challenge, and no job is too small.
Dental Implant Treatment Options by Restoration Type
When you visit Absolute Dental, you have a number of different options to choose from when undergoing dental restoration. We can fix anything from a single missing tooth to an entire arch of missing teeth.
Single Tooth Implants
A single tooth implant is exactly like it sounds — the replacement of a single tooth. Medically, this is the preferred option over a bridge or dentures because it not only protects the spacing of your teeth and the shape of your face, but also the bone in your jaw beneath the missing tooth.
Perhaps best of all, an implant of this nature performs almost exactly like your natural tooth. You generally won’t need to perform any additional maintenance and can brush and floss your teeth as normal.
Multiple Teeth and Implant-Supported Bridges
If you’re missing many teeth, especially if they are all in a row, you may be a good candidate for an implant supported bridge. An implant supported bridge acts like a traditional dental bridge, but instead of the bridge being supported by your natural teeth, it’s supported by implants.
In this case, fewer implants are needed than filling the entire gap with implants, saving cost and time. This method is also stronger and more stable than a traditional bridge and is relatively easy to clean.
Full Arch Implants (All-On-4)
For those missing all their teeth in either their top or bottom arch, full arch implants may be the best option. For many people, this solution is life changing. This is likely the best alternative to dentures.
With this method, you will likely not receive one post per tooth as is commonly thought. In general, the dentist will use four to six fixed implants to anchor an entire arch of teeth.
Materials: Titanium vs. Zirconia
In most cases, titanium posts are used to secure the crown to the jawbone. But in some cases, another material is used, called zirconia. This is a ceramic-like material used in patients who have metal sensitivities or whose bodies have rejected titanium in the past.
While titanium implants are the tried-and-true option, zirconia might be a good option to consider for people who would like a metal-free solution.

The type of dental implant that is best is the type of dental implant that is best for you. When it comes to dental implants, there is no one-size-fits-all solution. The best way to understand which style of dental implant may be right for you is to speak directly with your dentist during a consultation.
The average cost of dental implants in Las Vegas varies widely. There are many factors that influence the cost, from how many implants you need, the type of implant, and your unique oral health situation. The best way to understand the cost is to speak with your dentist. Â
This is a rule in dentistry to ensure proper spacing when receiving implants. It refers to three millimeters of spacing between an implant and natural tooth, and two millimeters between dental implants.
